say what you will

Things I do not understand:

Not using your blinker.
Texting during a movie (or using your laptop) - unless you are alone.
Not emptying the dishwaser.
Honking at someone to merge, when you clearly didn't leave room for them to merge.
Going more than 6 over the speed limit.
Driving, turning to talk to your child in the backseat, talking on the phone, all while going through an intersection.
How ants multiply overnight.
Being an adult.

Also, it has been a long time since I have watched a really good movie. I need one soon to reassure me that Hollywood isn't losing it.

we made a lot of mistakes

July.

Hello, Princess Month (as Tricia would say).

In the past few weeks, these things have happened:

1. One of my best friends got engaged.
2. I watched neighborhood fireworks by my lake with my favorite.
3. I got more than tipsy off of one drink multiple times (I am a LIGHTWEIGHT).
4. My boyfriend's sister had a baby (yesterday!) and I got to meet him.
5. I accepted the role of bridesmaid for the third time.
6. Two more people have said "yes" to seeing me in NYC when I go in October.
7. The party I planned for work went over very well.
8. Currently, I am experiencing my last day as a 22-year-old.

Now, I hope for a birthday miracle. In which my favorite lotion at work gets returned by a customer and I can take it home like a little gift. I love it when people return things I love.

Everyone go visit The Burger Stand at the Casbah in Lawrence. It is delicious and you will love it.

nothing to it

I tried to make a sassy tweet about this, but there weren't enough characters.

Last year I had a dozen weddings I was invited to.

This year there have been two.

This summer I have two baby showers.

Apparently, baby showers are the new weddings.

Since when am I so old...or why are my newly married friends getting pregnant so fast? Please tell me what they are doing so I do the exact OPPOSITE when I am married. Besides abstinence. Because if I'm married...let's face it. I'm going to have sex. Even with the baby risk.

Anyway.

My friends are going to be MOMS. Say WHAT.

Side note: I'm eating some left overs from my Mom. Apparently she had pasta with taco meat the other day. Quite strange.

The last three days have been spent reorganizing and rearranging my room. I got two new chests of drawers [My aunt is getting rid of stuff and I keep taking all of it in hopes of one day having my own place to display it in. Soon I will have to get a storage unit or somehting. I even have a rocking chair for whenever I have a baby. HA!]. One is in my closet, the other below a window. I LOVE having more storage space that is not cardboard boxes stuffed into my closet. I also love reorganizing. I have moved around all the things on any flat surface in that room quite a few times and am still uncertain of how it looks. If you need a maid or a reorganizer I am for hire. And it will look decent, maybe even awesome.

Maybe that can be my next rando job. I should write a book about the random jobs I have had. It can be called: How NOT to Succeed in Business, Even After Trying.

Catchy, right?

gotta feeling

A lot of times I love doing laundry. For some reason, completing a task like that (similar to doing the dishes or mowing the lawn) leaves me satisfied and feeling accomplished. It's simple, has to be done, but I get a small sense of joy out of it.

Today I realized how much I despise laundry when I don't feel like doing it. Ew. Too bad I was down to the too small or holey undies...that's when you know it's a bad situation. Because I have a LOT of undies.

On a different note, you know the bachelorette party you helped put on was a success when you get home at five in the morning. Oof. The amount of tired that hit me today makes me feel like I'm getting old quickly.

Anyone know of any great full time jobs that are hiring? Or even a part time job.

Anyone? Bueller?

standing here outside your door

Two years ago today, I was six days away from one of the best experiences of my life. I was so incredibly scared to go, so nervous, unsure, and regretting my decision to study abroad. What a dumb fear. Now I miss this silly street more than normal people miss their families.

Regardless, I shall return some day. Or I'll be really upset.

My newest Real Simple came yesterday. I have almost read all of it already. I like this magazine because it:
a) gives me fun recipes
b) provides tips for organization
c) tells me about fashion
d) has fun stories
e) makes me feel SO YOUNG

The fact that I am single* and not a mother means that I am a baby to read this magazine. And I feel safe knowing that I am far from marriage and babies. Don't ask me why. I am kind of like Peter Pan or a Toys R Us kid, if you know what I'm sayin'.

That being said, it is no surprise to anyone that I am BEYOND excited about my family vacation that is occuring immediately following Santa's departure and right after 2011 begins. We're going where I haven't been in over seventeen years.

And I swear if I don't get a picture with someone other than Tigger this time I'll lose it. I didn't even like Winnie the Pooh when I went when I was six, and I sure as heck need Minnie or Cinderella to make my dreams come true.

The best part? We might even go to the Harry Potter theme park, too.

Between October and December I will have gone on two (maybe even three!) vacations. Say WHAT?! Maybe it's okay I don't have a real job...okay, who am I kidding. I still need a real job. Suggestions?

*Clarification: by "single" I mean not married. I don't want any rumors about Laura being ready to mingle. Still very much in a relationship.

never thought i'd be the type

~This is a potentially awkward blog post to read. I just really felt like blogging about this topic for some reason. My apologies. Especially for the males.~

I like to think that every woman* has an obsession. Something small that can really mean SO MUCH to her. For me, I have a lot of things. Most are food. However, the obsession that made me want to write in my blog about it is this: cute & fancy bras.

The obsession started when I actually had enough to fill a cup (or...technically two cups) and the obsession grew exponentially when I discovered the bras at American Eagle...when I worked there...and got a massive discount. Then, the unthinkable happened: AE started their own underwear line and a store opened in Oak Park mall! Aerie, yes, the love of my life and the main reason (besides working at Lush) I suffer going to the mall. One Christmas, pretty much all my gifts were cute bras and undies from Aerie that matched and were all precious in little cute Aerie boxes.

After reading this month's Real Simple magazine I realized that you are only supposed to wear a bra 2-3 times before washing. Also, you are supposed to leave a day in between wears because the elastic needs to rest (who knew?!). With this new thought in mind, I was more concious of how many times I wore my bras. Also, I decided to wait FOREVER to do my laundry because it isn't a fun activity. All of this being said, I am doing laundry right now. And I thought I was SO good because I had one more bra in my drawer and I thought to myself "See? You are not so obsessed with bras! You only have one extra. You can definitely get at least two more and still be good to go when it comes to wearing bras and waiting forever to do your laundry." Then, I realized my newest bra was missing. So, I went to the basement (where we have our second set of washer&dryer (don't worry about it) and low and behold: four bras on a hanger. All were mine. Apparently Mom had done the blues down there last week and forgot to bring up the hanging dry clothes. So...I really have too many bras.

Too bad I have a coupon for a FREE BRA from Aerie that expires by June 28th. If you think about me that day, text me and make sure I don't forget to use it. Because I will, yes, DEFINITELY WILL cry if I don't use it.

*Okay, you're right. I should have said every PERSON. I know males have obsessions, too. Maybe some of them are obsessed with bras, too.

who can say

Today doesn't feel like Monday.

It also doesn't feel like June is just around the corner.

Even though I slept for a long time, I feel like taking a nap.

I may have accidentally taken my medicine twice today. Hopefully my body doesn't do something weird because of it.

In the last few weeks, I have had multiple dreams about performing in musicals. "American Idiot" and "A Chorus Line" to be exact. Although, last night's "A Chorus Line" was nothing like the original. And there was a maze of office supplies and I had to pretend I was on a school bus. My dreams are crazy. But, then again, who doens't thave crazy dreams?

This summer I want to do this, this, and this.

It's time to bust out my new swimsuit top. Hurry up, pool of my neighborhood, and open up already! Please?

Also, if you want snail mail, send me your address. I love writing letters.
