baby's got blue eyes

I want to go to there*: http://promisespromisesbroadway.com/google.html

I'm sorry...Kristin Chenowith (whose autobiography I love and am almost finished with) aka AMAZING and Sean Hayes (who DOESN'T love that guy) in a NEIL SIMON written MUSICAL COMEDY?!

Take me. Please. I have the time, just not the money. I can even get a FREE FLIGHT there. Opening night or sometime within the first month and half of it being open would be swell, since who knows how long they'll keep those two in the cast. OH MY LANTA!

What's even more fun about this is that I know exactly where the theater is. If memory serves me right, it's down the street from Letterman. Yes, DAVID Letterman. Er...where his show is, anyway.

/geekingout.

Back to reality...

Discovery:

iPod shuffling may result in one being completely creeped out at how it reads your mind in the best and worst ways.

Examples:

"Home, home, where I wanted to go" -clocks, coldplay

"So I can be for you what you want to see, I got the gestures and sounds, got the timing down, it's uncanny yeah, you'd think it was me" -best immitation of myself, ben folds

"It's gotten late and now I want to be alone" -steadier footing, death cab

"maybe I'm a girl, maybe I'm a lonely girl who's in the middle of something that she doesn't really understand, maybe I'm a girl and maybe you're the only man who could ever help me, baby won't you help me understand" -maybe i'm amazed, jem

"And then I'll cry so hard to these sad songs, and the words still ring, once here now gone, and they echo through my head everyday, and I dont think they'll ever go away" -november, azure ray

"When I am alone, when I've thrown off the weight of this crazy stone, when I've lost all care for the things I own, that's when I miss you, that's when I miss you, that's when I miss you, you who are my home, you who are my home, and here is what I know now, here is what I know now, goes like this.. In your love, my salvation lies in your love" -orange sky, alexi murdoch

"Cause life would be just like this movie and I would never feel alone, in fact, all the problems that I have would go away and I would forget how to feel sad" -movie stars and supermodels, the rocket summer

"Nobody said it was easy, it's such a shame for us to part, nobody said it was easy, no one ever said it would be this hard, oh take me back to the start" -the scientist, coldplay

...This is the collection of the songs from my drive back to KC last night. Yes, I took the time to find them on my iPod. Nerdy? Maybe. But I was amazed** as how topical and true to the moment they were in my life. Pretty much awesome.

In any event, watch out for putting your iPod on shuffle.

Update: I am almost 100% better. Great. Freakin. News. I even went to work today. Then, back to Topeka tomorrow.

Q: When will I ever stay in one place for longer than a two weeks at a time?
A: Never.

*Name who I am quoting and you win my heart.

**I use the word amazed here because I like it, not because I heard the song "Maybe I'm Amazed" ...or maybe I was subconsciously brainwashed.

wake up in the mornin' feeling like p diddy

...or wake up with your eye sealed shut from PINK EYE.

I usually pride myself on having a great immune system. I don't get sick that often. UNTIL NOW.

September: sick for a week, lost voice, drank a lot of gatorade, threw up.
December: stomach flu on xmas eve.
January: sick for six days (and counting) with a fever, sore throat, chills, headaches, ear aches, coughing up sickness, pink eye in both eyes, loss of voice (for three days and counting).

THIS HAS TO STOP.

Not only am I missing work, but I can't do much without feeling extremely tired. In addition, I am supposed to visit the little apple this weekend and it probably isn't going to happen. WHY!

This is when I am actually kind of glad I don't have a "real" job, because I would be worthless and infecting all kinds of people right now. Seriously.

Okay, enough complaining about my immune system being a FAKE.

Check this out: http://sleeptalkinman.blogspot.com/

Also, you should all be aware that there is only a week and two days left in January.

How many of you recognize this?

My mom got me that movie when I was really sick in elementary school and then I became obsessed with it. Just watching it brings back so many memories...like the fact I know all the words. Pathetic? Maybe.

You better believe I'm watching it today, whenever I wake up from passing out quite soon from the drugs I'm on.

and i'm telling you

Okay, I know.
Two posts in one day is a little ridic.

But.

I just turned on the TV to the Food Network and it's the part of a show where they eliminate or keep people for a cooking challenge.

When they announced someone winning a challenge, they played THE SAME MUSIC they play at the end of almost every America's Next Top Model episode!

Ohmygosh! Get some creativity people!

The music I am talking about: cue this video of 7:10 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHwdP6Kaw3U

And, now, for a decadent dinner: Pizza Rolls (I know you're jealous, Jenna - P.S. you left your calamari here)

never gonna get it

Sick. Again. This is so dumb.

When I am sick I feel guilty all day. I have so many things I could be doing, but I CAN'T because I'm freaking tired and sickly. Even reading just makes me sleepy. I'm about to take a nap because I watched a movie (I know, it doesn't make sense).

Netflix is about over for me. I keep getting independent movies that are subpar. I mean it sincerely when I say about 65% of the population can write better movies than a lot of the independent films out there. Maybe I don't relate to them because they are about drugs and sex and masturbating and other things that I'm not necessarily an expert on, but really?

Also, have you noticed that almost all independent films are just so gosh darn depressing? Yikes.

In other news, I forgot how much I really enjoy Philippians. Finished re-reading that guy last night. So good. Inspired me to do some creative projects with verses and such. We'll see how that goes.

Yesterday, my Mom and I got an "I miss you" card in the mail. It was cute. Until we realized it was from Proactiv - yes, the acne treatment stuff. GET REAL. My Mom was like "too bad it pretty much made your face worse" and I was all "yeah, dude."

Can you tell I've been reading dooce.com? Sometimes the way she phrases things gets into my head. I like it, though. Oh - Megan and I decided my dream job is to be a professional blogger. So get ready for that.

You know which actor I really enjoy but often forget about? Bill Murray.

Oh, and don't worry. I made it less than two weeks into the new year before I bought a new bra. I swear, you guys, it's like my guilty pleasure. Dangit, Aerie, why are you so freaking awesome?!

And, no need to fear, I finally purchased my 2010 calendar. Phew. It's PaperSource and it's so cute with it's pool blue recycled leather binding. Love.

Apologies for the lack of updating. I just never know if you people read this thing anyway. HA.

P.S. I also had my first interview of 2010. No, it was not successful.

make somebody somebody, soon

...and a happy new year!

It's almost a week into twenty ten. I still don't have a planner. This is a problem.

Updates: stomach flu for Christmas Eve, AWESOME Christmas, stellar week in Topeka/Manhattan, seeing Clint seven days in a row was awesome (hadn't happened since and won't happen again until summer), got a new phone, and LUSH is keeping me a regular part time employee - oo oo! Very excited.

Started reading a new book. It's probably going to be my new favorite.
Applied for four jobs today. On a roll.

Interesting story:
I have never had prescription medication in my life, besides silly antibiotics when I was younger. Now, I have three prescriptions for my acne (fun, right?) and it's the ONE TIME I am in health insurance limbo. So, if you could pray that I don't get hurt or sick or anything until my health insurance psychos finally figure everything out and I am no longer and walking time bomb, that would be great. Oh, and did I mention I'm supposed to get my prescriptions refilled THIS WEEK. Doubt that'll be able to happen without insurance...oh, adulthood. You win again.

Random fact: There is an irritation on my skin right by the outside corner of my left eye. Because of this, it looks like I have a blood tear coming out of my eye. It's kind of creepy.

Today, I am thankful for Ingrid Michaselson. She's all I listen to anymore, really.

P.S. If I ever get famous* I am totally still going to write in a blog.

*not that I'm expecting to be, but I like it when famous people do that.

somewhere in detroit

Some things just aren't as exciting as they used to be.
And then you have to re-evaluate decisions you've made about the future life you want. Is that really the way it's "supposed" to be? After all these years of planning...

I like splurging on little things.
For instance:

expensive soaps/bubble baths at work
-or-
fancy pants stationery/stamps/paper from Paper Source
-or-
slippers/pajama pants/underwear

Things that you can find for a decent/inexpensive price I just LOVE getting when they are FANCY and PRICEY. It almost makes me feel like I'm giving myself a little treat.

After my shift tonight, I bought some things in our store for family members, and splurged on a shiny, gold, glittery bubble bar and a sea salt gorgeous blue colored bath bomb. Why? They smelled good and we call that bath cocktail (aka combination) "the drunken mermaid" and I HAD to try it.

But, why spend the money I'm barely making on things I don't necessarily need? The world may never know.

And, why do I over invest myself in people who show me nothing in return?
Or, better yet, overshare with people who are really important to me about topics that are sensitive and may alter what they think about me?

Yes, you're probably right. It's time for me to go to sleep.

tell me something pretty

New life goal:

To see the Radio City Rockettes' Christmas Spectacular in NYC.

This would simultaneously allow me to fulfill another life goal:

Be in NYC during the Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year's Eve time. Not necessarily on those days (because it would be crazy) but the huge tree needs to be up at Rockefeller Center, and I need to be there.

I finally made my Christmas playlist for my iPod. Listening to "The Nutcracker" is always so nostalgic. If only I didn't think ballets were so boring. Maybe after dancing this past semester my appreciation will be strengthened and if/when I ever see "The Nutcracker" again I can just love it and feel like a little kid. Or just be pissed at myself for quitting dance and letting my first big life goal of being Clara go completely out the window. And only amounting to be a mouse three years in a row. Ha.

Okay. Back to job searching.

Any suggestions?
